Think European – Act globally

Despite retaining the connection with its regional origins between Germany and France, the corporation took an early strategic decision to be present, through subsidiaries, in the world’s biggest market for aircraft, the United States. This is a key market for successful and economic manufacture and distribution of avionic products and represents a considerable challenge to the corporation’s capacity, innovation and flexibility.

The Becker subsidiary in Brazil also has early origins. As an emerging economy, Brazil offers considerable potential, as demonstrated in the last ten years. Geographical dimensions dictate air traffic growth. The national aviation industry is on a sound competitive basis, and Brazil now represents the second largest market for business aircraft worldwide. Given the regional dynamics, Becker do Brasil Ltda. is well positioned to follow the EU model for strategic regional development of the whole South-American market.

The global economy shift in favour of Asia is taken into account by the creation of representative and competence centres in China and Taiwan. The opening of a representative office in India is already scheduled, with the Middle and Near East also in focus.

The Russian Federation has a special role in the exponential growth of the retro-fit market as well as the rebirth of a national Russian aircraft industry. Based on the know-how gained during the USSR period, it will have a great impact on the world market and Becker Avionics is ready to reinforce its activities in this region mainly through strategic joint-ventures.

Originally conceived as a R&D centre and production unit, Becker Poland is developing into a genuine distribution centre, with the focus lying on the very successful manufacturers of gliders and ultra-light aircraft located in Central and Eastern Europe.

Cutting edge avionics from experimental to professional aviation

Long-standing transponder manufacturing experience constitutes the basis for the corporation’s involvement in the world-wide changeover to the new Mode Sierra standard. In-creased functionality through implementation of ADS-B will be the next technological challenge. Providing the pilot with an unprecedented level of air-to-air surveillance, surrounding air-space traffic information and allowing point-to-point flights, it will mark the beginning of a completely new era for aviation. To provide innovative, reliable products at affordable prices continues to be the main objective at Becker Avionics.

The focus lies on complex, fully digitalised, Integrated Intercom Systems (ICS), Search and Rescue Systems (SARS), including compact Personal Locator Beacons (PLB) and airborne Computers. Extension of the product portfolio beyond VFR avionics is envisaged through custom-made system engineering solutions for civil, military and paramilitary applications.

From the analogue to the digital world

Becker Avionics Quality Management is tasked to assure the transition from analogue to digital technology, while meeting the quality and reliability standards which characterise the corporation since its beginnings.

Joint-ventures will continue to play a strategic role in the future development of the corporation.
